Hi, my name is Robin. I would like to share a little about myself and my journey with natural hair. I started my natural hair journey about 6 years ago. I grew out my relaxed hair until I had a few inches of my natural hair. One day I got in the mirror, I cut off all of my relaxed hair with scissors. It was the best decision regarding my hair. Yes, I did go through the common dry hair and breakage battle (so well known to black women). However, my decision was more deeply rooted. Change for the better and growth! It is important to act on it daily. At this point in my life, I felt a need to move past that stage and into a new one. I am learning to embrace my natural God given beauty. The day I cut my hair down to the new growth; I looked at myself in aw. I couldn’t believe how my natural hair was so beautiful. I loved it! I began to explore new styles and received compliments regularly. These compliments turned into a small clientele base.
My fiancé suggested that I try working in a salon. For the past 3 years, I’ve been working in a salon environment and recently in an environment like Na’Klectic’s. Na’Klectic is a unique, welcoming, pleasant and peaceful place to be. For the short time I’ve been here, I have grown professionally and personally. In addition, I have furthered my product knowledge to help me better care for your natural hair and mine. This is very important. Also, I am a student at The Maryland Institute College of Art. Currently, I am taking a break due to the birth of my new beautiful baby boy. I have been blessed to be able to express myself creatively in a variety of different mediums. Whether it’s with a pencil on paper, paint on a canvas, sculpting and molding clay, or molding and defining a variety of beautiful textures of hair. I love sharing my talents with others. I look forward to meeting with you and having you share your talents and interests with me as well!
